BENTWOOD RATTAN CHAIRS by MUNDUS
Antique bentwood bistro chairs with rattan webbing seats. These were made by Mundus Furniture in Teschen, Austria sometime prior to 1914. (In 1914 Mundus merged with J & J Kohn and then later with Thonet in 1921.) The rattan webbing is hand woven in the traditional manner, so potentially is original. Beautiful honey coloured frames.
Chairs are in lovely condition for their age, they are over 100 years old. There is evidence of past touch ups to the frames and one of the bolts has a modern replacement. Some scuffs and wear. There is a small sag to the cane webbing on one of the seats, but there's no holes or damage otherwise. Strong & solid to sit on. A truly charming pair, with loads of character, in fantastic condition.
