BURGESS TEAK BOOKCASE
Vintage shelves in teak veneer by Melbourne furniture maker Burgess. Purchased from Myer Geelong. Upper shelves can be adjusted freely and solid doors at the bottom. There are 3 shelves in total that can be used anywhere within the unit as there are peg holes from top to bottom. The fixed shelf protrudes from the rest of the unit and sides out a further few centimetres, not sure why, but a nifty feature. Freshly oiled and buffed. Classic Australian mid century design.
Excellent condition. Light wear, the odd scuff/mark, but really, it's terrific, veneer is intact. The two hinges on the right-hand door have been reattached at some stage, and have been screwed through to the outside and are visible. Inside the bottom cabinet, it also appears there was once another piece that slid out. Regardless it's still a functional space and you are able to shift one of the shelves in there as desired.
